Jehwangsan Park
제황산공원
A modest mountain is visible to the east of the Jinhae Jungang Rotary lawn plaza, and this mountain is Jehwangsan, also called Buungsan. Jehwangsan Park is developed on the summit of the mountain, and within the park stands Jinhae Tower, built in the shape of a warship mast on the site where the Russo-Japanese War Victory Monument once stood in 1967. The Changwon City Jinhae Museum, which displays various relics excavated from Jinhae, operates in Jinhae Tower, and from the third floor upward it functions as an observation deck. The summit of Jehwangsan, where Jinhae Tower stands, can be reached on foot or by monorail; if using the walking route, one may ascend via the 365 stairs next to the monorail ticket office or the stairs behind the Jung-ang Market parking lot. Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, is a military port city that hosts the Jinhae Military Port Festival, a cherry blossom festival held every spring, and is a tourist attraction that receives many visitors during the festival period.
