Chilseon Valley

Chilseon Valley is counted among the three greatest valleys in Korea alongside Cheonbuldong Valley in Seoraksan and Tamna Valley in Hallasan. As a valley in Jirisan with steep and rugged terrain, beautiful scenery, and Jirisan's last remaining primeval forest, Chilseon Valley displays a scenic wonderland of 7 waterfalls and 33 pools stretching from Uittang in Macheon-myeon to Cheonwangbong. The climbing route of Chilseon Valley begins in Chuseong Village in Macheon-myeon and extends to Cheonwangbong, with considerable sections separated from the valley itself due to the dangers of valley climbing. This is because the rugged terrain is so severe that there is virtually nowhere safe to venture off the established trail. From Chuseong onwards, visitors encounter Yongso where the first pools appear, and then proceed through Jujiteeo, Chuseonmangbawi, Seonyeotang, Okunyeotang, Biseondam, Chilseon Falls, Daeryuk Falls, Samsang Falls, and Mafalls before reaching Cheonwangbong, where the finest scenic beauty of the valley can be appreciated.
