Hwawangsan is a volcano located in Changnyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, with Hwawangsan Fortress situated along the ridge of its summit, and Changnyeong Mokma Fortress spreading out along the ridgeline that extends westward from the northern peak. Hwawangsan is a mountain that boasts beautiful scenery throughout all four seasons—in spring, tens of thousands of pyeong of azalea clusters and rhododendrons create a spectacular sight, while summer offers the appeal of dense green foliage and cool valley streams. In autumn, golden silver grass sways across the expansive silver grass meadow to create a magnificent view, and in winter the snow-covered landscape is beautiful, drawing many hikers and tourists year-round. Furthermore, with its historical remains complementing the natural surroundings, Hwawangsan is a destination worth recommending not only for family travellers but also for visitors seeking to enjoy both history and nature simultaneously.
