Sangnim Forest Park
상림공원
Sangnim Forest Park is a forest located along the Wicheon River west of Hamyang township, and is said to have been created by Scholar Choi Chi-won during the reign of Queen Jinseong of the Unified Silla period to prevent flooding in Hamyang township. Previously called Daegwanlim, the forest was divided into Sangnim (Upper Forest) and Harim (Lower Forest) when the middle section was destroyed by flooding. Currently, Harim remains only in traces due to damage, while Sangnim retains its original form. The forest is dominated by oak and zelkova species, with wild grape vines and kudzu intertwined, evoking the natural vegetation of a valley. With some 120 species of trees planted along the embankment, it is also an excellent place for children's nature education.
