Dong-gu Culture Platform is a complex cultural exhibition space that opened to offer citizens and tourists new cultural experiences by operating the former Busanjin Station, which had been left vacant since its closure in 2005, as a multipurpose cultural exhibition venue for displays and performances. The old Busanjin Station has been newly remodeled as a civic plaza for the Culture Platform and is being operated together with a coffee museum. The coffee museum is a museum where a Busan citizen donated and put on display diverse coffee utensils from around the world that they collected over several decades to the Dong-gu Office. The process of how a cup of coffee is extracted is displayed by various methods (decoction, steeping, filtering, and pressure) and different coffee utensils are arranged chronologically and by type, and it is open to the public free of charge for the public interest of Dong-gu residents and Busan citizens. Various educational programs are being operated, including coffee classes at the Dong-gu Lifelong Learning Center, coffee academy and professional barista courses as special programs of the Pusan National University Lifelong Education Institute, one-day coffee classes under the auspices of the International Coffee Museum, coffee culture experiences and the history of coffee utensil changes under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, and experience courses along the Sanbok Road stroll route operated by the Dong-gu Office.
