Geumgang Park

This park was created when a Japanese merchant developed part of the foothills of Geumjeongsan as a private garden, and after liberation it was designated as a park and given the name "Geumgang Park." The name "Geumgang" comes from the fact that Geumjeongsan was called "Little Geumgangsan" because its scenic beauty was comparable to that of Geumgangsan, and the park's name was taken from this designation. Located in the heart of the city, the park attracts visitors throughout all four seasons and is beloved as a resting place that anyone can enjoy. The park contains various cultural facilities, including the Busan Folk Art Museum, which opened in September 1974 to excavate, preserve, and promote the traditional folk arts of the Dongnae area, and the Busan Marine Natural History Museum, Korea's first specialized museum of world marine natural history. The Geumgang Park cable car is also a notable attraction not to be missed. Built in 1966, the cable car has been in operation for many years while still retaining its original appearance with red and yellow colours. Additionally, sports facilities, the Imjin Dongnae Uprising Monument designated as Local Cultural Heritage No. 13, and seven commemorative monuments can be seen in the park.
